Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across northeast Ohio and the Western Reserve

Whole-Home Humidifiers

We install and service whole-home humidifiers on furnaces and air handlers for homeowners across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. A whole-home humidifier ties into your ductwork and adds moisture to the air as your heat runs, so you are not chasing dry air room by room with portable tanks. If your winter air brings static shocks, cracked woodwork, dry throats, split trim or a nosebleed or two, give us a call and we will look at your system and your home together.

What the job involves

Installation starts at the furnace or air handler. We cut in a bypass or fan-powered humidifier on the supply or return plenum, run a small water line to a nearby supply, set a drain where the unit needs one, and wire the control so the humidifier only runs when the system is moving air. Then we set the humidistat and watch it through a full cycle. On older homes with retrofit ductwork, placement takes some thought, and we would rather spend that time up front than come back for a rattle or a leak.

What we check and install

Before we install anything, we look at duct sizing, airflow, static pressure and where your existing filter sits, because a humidifier that starves for air will not evaporate much. On service calls we check the water panel or pad for mineral crust, the solenoid valve, the saddle or supply connection, the drain line, the humidistat reading against actual indoor humidity, and the damper position if the unit has a summer and winter setting. We also confirm the blower is running the way the control expects.

How we decide it is the right call

Dry air is common through long heating seasons across the region, but not every complaint is a humidity problem. Duct leakage into an unconditioned basement or attic, an oversized furnace short cycling, or a bad filter can all feel like dry, stale air. We measure indoor relative humidity, look at your envelope and window condition, and talk about how the house feels in different rooms. If a humidifier fits, we say so. If the fix is sealing or airflow, we say that instead.

Whole-Home Humidifiers — quick answers

What humidity level should I set in winter?

Most homes in our states do well somewhere in the thirty to forty percent range, adjusted down as outdoor temperatures drop. If you see condensation or frost on window glass, the setting is too high for that house.

Does the water panel need replacing every year?

Usually yes, once per heating season, and sooner with hard water. Mineral scale blocks evaporation, so a crusted panel means the humidifier runs without adding much moisture to your air.

Will a whole-home humidifier work if my furnace is old?

Often it will, as long as the blower and ductwork can support it. We check airflow and static pressure first, and we will tell you honestly if the furnace should be addressed before we add anything.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
