Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across northeast Ohio and the Western Reserve

Furnace Repair — Book a Visit Today

We handle furnace repair and heating repair for homes across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, New York and West Virginia, and the fastest next step is to call us with a short description of what the furnace is doing. Most calls come down to a failed ignitor, a dirty flame sensor, a bad pressure switch or inducer, a clogged filter choking airflow, or a thermostat that lost its signal. A visit starts with questions, then we check the thermostat, the filter, the electrical supply and the sequence of operation, watching the furnace try to run so we see the failure instead of guessing. You get told what failed, what the repair involves, and what we found that may fail next. If you smell gas, leave the house first and call 911 or your gas utility.

The furnace symptoms we hear most

  • The furnace blows but the air is cold Ignition failure, flame sensor fouling or a gas valve not opening
  • It starts, runs a minute, then shuts off Short cycling from a limit trip, restricted airflow or a lockout after failed ignition
  • Nothing happens at all when the thermostat calls Thermostat, control board, blown low-voltage fuse or a tripped breaker or safety switch
  • I hear a click and a whir but no heat Inducer or pressure switch problem, often a blocked flue or condensate drain
  • Some rooms are freezing and the furnace never quits Undersized or leaking ductwork, closed returns or a blower running weak

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1, and start here: confirm the thermostat is set to heat with a temperature above the room reading, and swap in fresh batteries if it takes them.
  • 2Look at your electrical panel for a tripped breaker on the furnace circuit and reset it once. If it trips again, stop and call us.
  • 3Pull the filter and hold it to a light. If you cannot see light through it, replace it with the same size and see if airflow returns.
  • 4Walk the house and make sure supply vents and return grilles are open and not blocked by furniture, rugs or boxes.

Furnace Repair — quick answers

How fast can you get out for a no-heat call?

Call us and tell us the house is without heat, and we will give you a real window based on where you are and what the day looks like. During cold snaps we prioritize homes with no heat at all, especially with infants, older adults or pets inside.

Is it worth repairing an older furnace?

Often yes, if the heat exchanger is sound and the failed part is available. We tell you what we found, what the repair covers, and what condition the rest of the furnace is in, then you decide. We do not push replacement on a fixable furnace.

What does a flame sensor problem look like?

The burners light, then the flame drops out after a few seconds and the furnace tries again, sometimes several times before locking out. A sensor coated in residue stops proving flame. Cleaning or replacing it is a common and straightforward heating repair.

Do you repair electric furnaces too?

Yes. Electric furnace repair usually involves heating elements, sequencers, contactors, limits or the blower motor. The symptoms look similar to gas problems from inside the house, so we test the sequence of operation to find which stage is not energizing.

I smell gas near the furnace. What now?

Leave the building right away, take everyone with you, and do not flip switches or use the thermostat. From outside, call 911 or your gas utility and let them make the area safe. Once they clear it, call us for the furnace repair.

Why does my furnace keep tripping the breaker?

Repeated tripping points to a motor drawing too much current, a shorted component or a wiring fault, and it is not something to keep resetting. Reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call us so we can test under load.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
