Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across northeast Ohio and the Western Reserve

Air Duct Cleaning

We clean residential air ducts across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, pulling built-up dust, drywall grit and construction debris out of supply and return runs so your HVAC system moves the air it was designed to move. Homeowners usually call after a remodel, after buying an older house, or when registers blow visible dust every time the furnace starts. Give us a call and describe what you are seeing at the vents, and we will tell you whether cleaning is the right fix or something else is going on.

What the job involves

We start at the air handler or furnace and work outward. Registers and return grilles come off, then a vacuum with sealed collection is connected to the trunk line so debris travels out of the house instead of into your living room. Agitation tools loosen what has packed into the runs, and we work each branch back toward the main. In older homes with retrofit ductwork and long horizontal runs, this takes patience. We reinstall grilles, replace the filter, and run the system while we are still there.

What we check while we are in there

Open ducts tell us a lot. We look for disconnected joints, crushed flex, gaps at the boot where conditioned air is dumping into a floor cavity, and return leaks pulling basement air into the supply side. We check the blower compartment and coil, since a dirty coil often explains weak airflow better than the ducts do. We note insulation that has fallen off in unconditioned space. Anything we find gets shown to you with a photo and a plain explanation, no pressure attached.

How we decide it is the right call

Duct cleaning is worth doing when there is actual debris to remove. Post-renovation dust, a rodent problem, water that got into a run, or years of running without a filter all qualify. If the real issue is undersized return, a leaking trunk or a coil packed with dirt, cleaning will not solve it and we will say so. We would rather look, tell you what we see and fix the thing that matters than sell a service that leaves you with the same complaint next month.

Air Duct Cleaning — quick answers

How often do air ducts need cleaning?

There is no set schedule. Most homes go many years without needing it. Renovation work, pests, water intrusion or a long stretch of running with no filter are the reasons that actually justify a cleaning.

Will duct cleaning help my allergies?

It can reduce the dust that recirculates, especially if debris is visibly sitting in the runs. Filtration, sealing return leaks and controlling humidity usually matter more, and we will walk through those options with you.

Does the crew need access to every room?

Yes. We pull each supply register and return grille, so we need a clear path to all of them plus the furnace or air handler. Moving small furniture ahead of time speeds the visit up.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
