The duct cleaning symptoms we hear most
- Dust settles back on the furniture a day after I clean Return-side leakage pulling in dust, or debris in the supply trunk
- Black streaks fanning out around the ceiling registers Register and boot buildup, often with a filter that is bypassing
- One bedroom gets almost no air Blocked, crushed or disconnected branch run rather than a system fault
- A musty smell every time the blower kicks on Moisture in the ductwork, dirty coil or a damp basement return
- We just finished a remodel and the vents are gritty Construction dust loaded through unsealed returns during the work
Search for it as duct cleaning or air duct cleaning and you land in the same place: one visit, one written quote.
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Pull your filter and look at it. If it is grey and matted, change it and see whether the dust settles down over the next week.
- 2Walk the house and confirm every supply and return vent is open and not blocked by furniture or a rug.
- 3Check the thermostat settings, and swap the batteries if the display is faint, so you know the blower is actually being called on.
- 4Look at the breaker for the air handler or furnace. If it has tripped, that is worth telling us about when you call.

How do I know if my ducts actually need cleaning?
Look at the registers and the filter first. Heavy lint at the returns, black streaking around ceiling vents, or grit after a remodel are real signs. If both look clean and airflow is fine, cleaning may not be what your house needs.
What happens during a duct cleaning visit?
We open access points in the trunk and branches, inspect what is inside, then brush and vacuum the system under negative pressure. Registers and boots get cleaned separately. We reseal every access point before we leave and show you what came out.
Will duct cleaning fix a room that is always cold?
Sometimes, if a branch run is packed with debris. More often a cold room traces back to a crushed duct, a disconnected run in a crawlspace, or undersized ductwork from an old retrofit. We look at the whole path, not only the dirt.
Do you clean the vents and registers too?
Yes. Vent and register cleaning is its own sub-service and we also do it as part of a full duct cleaning. The boot behind the grille collects the worst of it, so we pull covers and clean the cavity, not just the face.
How long does a whole-house duct cleaning take?
Most single-family houses run several hours, depending on the number of runs, how the basement is laid out, and whether registers are painted shut. Older homes with octopus-era conversions and added branches take longer because there is more system to reach.
Should I clean ducts before or after a remodel?
After. Drywall dust and sawdust get pulled into open returns while the work is happening, so cleaning first just means doing it twice. Ask the contractor to cover returns during construction, then have us clean once the dust settles.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.
- Step 3
You approve the repair
We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us
- Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
- Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
- Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
- Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
- All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
- Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
