Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across northeast Ohio and the Western Reserve

Whole-Home Air Purifiers

We install and service whole-home air purifiers that mount inside your existing ductwork and treat the air every time the system runs, for homeowners across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Homeowners usually call us when dust settles again a day after cleaning, when allergy symptoms follow the heating season, or when cooking and pet odors hang around. Call us and describe what you are noticing room by room. We will look at your ducts, your blower and your filter setup before recommending anything.

What the job involves

A whole-home air purifier is built into the return or supply side of your furnace or air handler, so it works on the whole house instead of one room. The job starts with a look at your ductwork and available cabinet space, since older homes in this region often have retrofit trunk lines with very little straight run to work with. We cut and seal a housing, wire the unit to the air handler, and confirm the blower still moves the air it needed to move before.

What we check and install

We measure static pressure, check filter condition and slot size, and look at how the return is drawing. High static pressure is common in homes with undersized returns, and adding the wrong media there makes a system work harder for less air. Depending on what we find, we install a deep media cabinet, an electronic air cleaner, or a UV or polarized unit sized to your blower. We seal the cabinet, label the filter direction, and show you the replacement interval in writing.

How we decide it is the right call

Sometimes air quality problems are a duct problem, not a filtration problem. Leaky returns in a basement pull in dust, and a crawlspace or attic run can pull in humidity and odor no purifier will fix. So we check for leaks, bad seals and gaps at the plenum first. If the ducts are tight and the complaint is dust, dander or lingering smells, a whole-home purifier is a reasonable step. If the complaint is dampness, we talk about humidity control instead.

Whole-Home Air Purifiers — quick answers

Will a whole-home air purifier replace my furnace filter?

No. Most systems still need a filter to protect the blower and coil. Some deep media cabinets serve both roles, and we will tell you exactly which filter to buy and how often to change it.

Does it only work when the heat or AC is running?

Mostly, yes, since air has to move through the ducts. Many thermostats can run the fan on a low circulation setting between cycles. We can set that up and explain what it does to your blower.

Will I hear it?

A properly installed unit should not add noticeable noise. If you hear a new whistle or rush after install, that usually points to static pressure or a leak at the cabinet, and we come back and correct it.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
